Decide what happens to defective deliveries
When you receive goods and mark units as defective, wrong, damaged or expired, those units stay out of stock. Warehouse → Receipt decisions collects them, grouped by material and supplier, until someone decides what happens to each group. Nothing here counts toward on-hand or toward what a sales channel can promise.
Decide
Section titled “Decide”- Open Warehouse → Receipt decisions. The Awaiting a decision tab lists each material and supplier with the pending quantity, order and reason held.
- Click Decide on a row.
- Choose the Decision.
- Enter the Quantity this decision settles. It is drawn down from the oldest order first, so you can settle part of a group.
- Add a Note and click Record decision.
The four decisions:
- Scrap: nothing moves. The receipt already left these units out of stock, so removing them again would count them twice. Turn on Claim the scrapped units from the supplier to draw up a supplier return for them.
- Return to supplier: raises a draft supplier return and records the returned quantity on the order line. Nothing moves in stock.
- Use as is: brings the units into stock as a concession, at a Warehouse location you choose. The supplier stays liable and the material’s average cost does not change.
- Accept: brings the units into stock as good. The defect count stays on the order line as the record of what arrived.
A return needs a supplier on the order. Keeping defective units of a purchased product is not possible yet, because stock movements for those exist for materials only.
The Decided tab keeps the history. If a decision was recorded but its stock movement did not post, the row says Not posted and offers Post the missing movements.
Follow the claim
Section titled “Follow the claim”Returns and scrap claims appear on the Supplier claims tab. See Claim money back from a supplier.
