Set shop hours, closures and changeovers

Dates on a production plan are only as good as the hours behind them. Settings → Production calendar holds those hours: the weekly hours, the days off and the time lost changing a machine over.

Under Weekly hours, enter the hours the shop can work on each weekday. A resource with no week of its own works the shop’s week. To give a machine its own, enter its hours on its row. Use the shop week removes it again.

People are not entered here. Their hours come from each person’s work schedule and production share. See Set work schedules.

Add the machines themselves in Settings → Resources. See Cost the work with positions, works and rates.

Under Closures and public holidays, click Add day for a date that replaces the weekly hours: a closure, a shorter day, an overtime Saturday.

  1. Choose what it Applies to: Whole shop, One resource or All sites.
  2. Pick the Date and enter the Hours available that day. 0 closes it.
  3. Add a Reason.

The narrowest scope wins: a resource on a site, then a resource, then a site, then the whole shop.

Choose a Year, and optionally a Site and Country, then click Add public holidays for that year. The country defaults to the site’s, or to the legal entity’s. Holidays are added as closures you can edit or remove. Dates that already had a row are left alone. Preview the days shows what would be added. Remove all public holidays for the year archives the ones you did not edit.

A country with no holiday data says so. Add its closures by hand.

Under Changeover, choose a resource and what its changeover is by: Kind of work, Product family, or None. Then list the pairs that take time: From, To and the Hours. For example, the laser cutter going from Cutting to Engraving takes 2 hours. Pairs you do not list take no time, and going from a thing to itself cannot be stated. Changing what the changeover is by archives the pairs already stated.

Promising from capacity is Off by default: a sales order line that no stock, purchase or scheduled run can date gets no date, and the reason. Turn it On and such a line is dated from its place in the production queue and the weekly hours. The date is marked as projected and moves if the queue is re-ordered. It needs weekly hours here, a specification with hours and a date for each material. A line that lacks one is told which. Only an administrator can change it.
