See which source pays a person
Hours can be recorded in two places: on a timesheet, and on the steps of a production order. If both paid, an hour of work recorded twice would be paid twice. So each person is paid from one source only.
The three sources
Section titled “The three sources”On the person’s card, under How this person is paid, Where pay comes from is set by the pay model you chose, and the card says it in a sentence beneath it. You can change it.
- Timesheet hours: hours logged on the timesheet, at the hourly rate. Production operations add nothing.
- Production operations: operation lines on production orders marked Counts toward pay. The timesheet records attendance and does not pay.
- Piece work: completed piece work on production orders at the person’s Piece rates. The timesheet records attendance and does not pay.
Because only one source pays, the same work cannot be paid twice. Keep filling in timesheets either way: they are the record of attendance, and in some places keeping one is a legal requirement.
Piece rates are set per operation in Wage and piece rates. When a rate is not set, the operation’s default rate applies. A line with neither pays nothing.
An older setting, Timesheet and production (legacy), pays from both. That is the one setting that can pay an hour twice. The employees list shows Pay settings that need your decision for anyone still on it, with Timesheet only and Production only as replacements. Nothing changes until you choose. The same notice lists weekly or biweekly wages that were set up before they were counted: Start accruing this wage shows what they accrue today and what they would accrue once corrected.
