Make several things in one run

Cutting a hide gives panels and offcuts. Rendering wax gives a blend and a sediment. If a bill of materials can name only one output, the offcuts never reach stock and the whole cost of the process lands on the panels.

  1. Open the bill of materials in Production → Bill of Materials and go to Contents.
  2. Find What else comes out and click Add output.
  3. Choose the Kind (Material or Product), the Output and how much comes out Per batch, and its unit.
  4. Choose its Role:
    • Co-product: takes a Share, % of the cost of the process.
    • By-product: takes none of the cost. It is credited back at what it is Worth per unit.
  5. Click Save outputs.

The shares of co-products must leave the main output something: keep the total under 100%, and each share above 0. An output that takes all of it is a specification for something else. A set is saved all at once, because a half-typed set cannot be valid. At most twenty outputs are allowed.

Saving with no outputs removes them, and the specification makes one thing again.

  • The main output is charged what is left after the co-products’ shares.
  • A by-product is credited back to the main output at the lower of the worth you state and what it cost you, so a worthless offcut cannot manufacture profit.
  • A run of this specification credits the same way, so plan and actual agree. The order shows This output’s share of the run and Credited back.

Someone who cannot see costs sees what the process yields, but not a by-product’s value.
