Delivery presets and per-channel crops
A delivery preset is a named recipe for an output: “Square 1080”, “Story”, “Marketplace main image”. A channel asks for the size and shape it needs, and the preset produces it from the original on demand. Your original is never changed.
Make a preset
Section titled “Make a preset”- Open Settings → Media presets.
- Click Add preset and give it a Display name. The code is made from the name.
- Add steps. They run from top to bottom, and each works on what the one above left. Resize first, then crop: the photo is scaled down before it is cut.
- Resize: Cover the box, Fit inside the box, To a width or To a height. Enlarge small photos is off by default, so a small photo is left at its own size.
- Crop: cut by a box or by an aspect ratio such as 9:16, keeping the photo’s focal point, the center, or what the engine finds. A crop on a face or on the main subject needs your own Cloudinary.
- Pad: put the photo on a bigger canvas, white or transparent.
- AI extend and AI upscale: make the missing background so the photo fits a shape without being cropped, or enlarge it sharply.
- Apply LUT and Adjust: color grade and sliders. See Photo styles and LUTs.
- Choose the output Format (Auto, JPG, WebP, PNG or AVIF) and Quality.
- Check Result on a sample photo, which shows each step on a landscape, portrait or square sample, and save.
A preset can have at most 12 steps. A step that only Cloudinary can do, such as background removal, is marked Cloudinary only. It runs when your own Cloudinary serves the photo, and otherwise the photo gets the size, crop and format without it. See Connect your own Cloudinary.
Tell a channel what it needs
Section titled “Tell a channel what it needs”- Open Sales → Channels and choose Image requirements in the channel’s row actions.
- Click Add requirement.
- Set the Position. 1 is the primary image, and higher numbers are gallery slots.
- Choose the Delivery preset that renders it. Optionally choose a Fallback preset for when the first is archived later, and an Expected role, such as Packshot: the first photo with that role goes in this position.
- Tick Required for this channel if the position must be filled.
Where a channel has no requirement for a position, its channel-type default applies.
See the checks before publishing
Section titled “See the checks before publishing”Each photo is checked against the channel’s rules before it goes out: size and shape, a white background, the product filling the frame, and format and file size. In the photo’s drawer, Photo checks lists what is wrong and why, for example “1200 × 800 px is smaller than the 2000 × 2000 px that this channel asks for”. These are warnings. They never stop a push.
In the drawer, Delivery presets shows the output each preset gives this photo, and Copy delivery link copies its address.
