Create promo codes for your storefront
A promo code is something a buyer enters at a storefront checkout. The checkout checks it against the priced cart and writes it into the order’s discount.
Create a code
Section titled “Create a code”- Open Sales → Channels, then More actions → Promo codes.
- Click New promo code.
- Enter the Code: 2 to 40 characters without spaces. Buyers may type it in any case.
- Under What it takes off, choose Percent off, Amount off or Free delivery. Enter the percent, or the amount and its Currency.
- Under Valid on these storefronts, choose at least one.
- Optionally set Valid from and Valid until (inclusive), a Minimum order value (the goods total before delivery, in the code’s currency), Uses in total and Uses per customer.
- Click Save.
Leave a limit empty for no limit. Every order the code was applied to counts as a use.
Promo codes apply on a storefront. If there is none, the screen asks you to create a storefront channel first.
The status
Section titled “The status”Active, Scheduled, Expired, Used up or Archived. The table shows each code’s value, storefronts, validity and uses (for example, 12 of 50).
Two active codes cannot share a code. Archive or rename the old one first.
What the buyer sees
Section titled “What the buyer sees”At checkout, a Promo code field with Apply. A discount shows as Discount (CODE) and free delivery as Free delivery. A code that does not work says why: no such code, not valid yet, expired, not valid in this store, not valid for prices in this currency, needs a larger order, used up, or already used as many times as allowed.
Archive a code
Section titled “Archive a code”Archive from the row’s actions. Show archived lists them, and a code can be restored if no other active code uses the same text.
