Price from production cost

A cost-based list has no parent. It reads each product’s production cost, which comes from its bill of materials and operations, and turns it into a price with a rule. When a material gets more expensive or the recipe changes, the price recomputes.

  1. Open Sales → Price lists and click Add price list.
  2. Enter the Name, choose the Currency.
  3. Set Calculation type to Cost based.
  4. Click Add price list, then Configure derivation rule.
  5. Choose how cost becomes price:
Rule kind Value Result
Production cost × markup 2 Double the cost. 1.3 is cost plus 30%.
Production cost + amount 5 Cost plus a fixed amount, in the list’s currency
Markup % 40 Cost plus 40%
Discount % 10 Cost minus 10%
Fixed price 12 A flat price for every product on the list, ignoring its cost
  1. Type a cost in Example production cost to see the result, then click Apply rule.

There is no currency conversion: production cost is already in the workspace’s cost currency, and the list currency is where the result lands.

A product with no production cost and no recipe is left unpriced. In the product’s Variants & prices tab, click the dot in the cell to open the price trace, which gives the reason: Product cost is missing.
