Launch a new product line

Lumen & Fern is launching Winter Orchard: one candle in three scents and two sizes, sold on Shopify, on its own storefront and to wholesale buyers. This is the path from nothing to a line that is live and sent.

In Settings → Attributes, edit Scent and Size and switch on Can be a variant axis. In Settings → SKU and serial numbers, add a rule with the mode Structured codebook, so a SKU reads LF-ORCH-PEAR-200. Give each scent and size a code on the Codebooks tab, and choose the Assignment, such as Brand default. In step 2, a value with no code yet is named in the dialog.

Steps in detail: Attributes and what each category asks for, Set up SKU rules and codebooks.

Add the candle with Catalog → Products → Add product. Open it, go to Variants & prices and click Add variants. Pick Scent and Size under Differentiating attributes, type the values, check the Preview (one variant per combination) and click Add variants. Each variant gets its SKU from the rule.

Steps in detail: Families and variants, Edit every variant in one grid.

Click Assign prices and tick Retail USD and Wholesale USD. Click Edit price, type the retail amounts and use Copy to all variants where sizes share a price. A derived wholesale list recomputes when you click Confirm & recompute.

Steps in detail: Set and pin prices on a product, Make a wholesale list from your retail list.

Photos belong to the model. Upload them in Media, open the model’s Media tab, click Add from library, and set the cover. In the Variant matrix, tick which variants each photo shows. Drag the Focal point marker onto the candle in each photo, so every crop keeps it in frame. To set what each channel receives, open Settings → Media presets to make a delivery preset, such as a square, then Sales → Channels → Image requirements to assign it to each position. Where one channel needs a different cover, pick it next to Master order on the product’s Media tab and untick Include on photos it should not show.

Steps in detail: Attach photos to products and channels, Set a focal point and crop a photo, Delivery presets and per-channel crops.

On the Translations tab, add each product language and write the name and description once, using {{ for attributes so one line serves every variant. Generate with AI drafts a language; read it and click Accept. For a channel that wants a different title, open the product’s Channels tab, click Edit listing details on that channel and fill Title on this channel.

Steps in detail: Translate product copy, Write a different title for one channel.

Open Catalog → Collections, click New collection, name it Winter Orchard and use Add products to put the candle in. Switch on Show in storefront and choose a Cover for your own storefront.

Steps in detail: Collections.

Set the status in the product header to Live and choose Whole listing. On the Channels tab, click Add channel for each shop. A listing reads Ready when every language the channel exports has a translation and a price resolves. Then open Sales → Channels, open the shop, tick Catalog, Prices and Photos and alt text, and click Preview push. Read the count, then click Push to the shop. Your own storefront reads the catalog directly and needs no push.

Steps in detail: Draft, live and archived, Choose what is listed where, Push products to a shop.

Select the candle in Catalog → Products and click New linesheet. Name it, choose the Language of the sheet, pick the Wholesale price list and, if you like, a Suggested retail price list. Read Before you send this sheet, then click Download PDF or Download spreadsheet.

Steps in detail: Linesheets.

  • The family shows six variants, each with a SKU from your rule.
  • Each channel listing reads Ready, with the shop’s push showing nothing held back.
  • Catalog → Collections shows Winter Orchard with its products.
  • The linesheet’s PDF lists the line with wholesale prices.
