Import products from a spreadsheet
If your products live in Excel or a CSV, import them on the first day instead of typing them in. This page is the short version; the Catalog section covers every column.
Get the template
Section titled “Get the template”- Open Import / Export in the sidebar (Admin section). Only an Administrator or General manager sees it.
- Under Start a job, set Action to Import and Entity to Products.
- Click Download template. The header row comes from the same column list the importer reads, so the names always match.
Prepare the file
Section titled “Prepare the file”The required column is sku. The others are name, brand, category, status and product_type.
- Brand and category match by name. A row naming a brand or category Keelvy does not know gets the error “Unknown brand” or “Unknown category” and is skipped. Create them first in Settings → Brands and Settings → Categories. Categories can also be imported from a file on their own screen.
- A SKU that already exists is updated. A new SKU creates a product. Run the same file twice and nothing is duplicated.
- Attribute values can ride along in extra columns named
attr:followed by the attribute’s code. The template lists one for each attribute you have. A column that matches no attribute is reported as “Unknown attribute column”.
Import it
Section titled “Import it”- Open Catalog → Products and click Import XLSX.
- Upload your XLSX or CSV file.
- Click Preview. Keelvy shows To create, To update and Errors. Rows with errors are listed with the reason and skipped.
- Click Apply.
If the import stops part-way, the screen says how many rows were applied. Click Continue import and it picks up from the next row. Nothing is lost or applied twice.
If the file is bigger than your plan
Section titled “If the file is bigger than your plan”The plan counts SKUs, and every variant counts as its own SKU. If the new SKU rows do not fit, the whole import is refused and the catalog stays exactly as it was. Archive products, ask for more room, or change plan, then import again. See When you reach a plan limit.
