Add a supplier
A supplier is the company you buy from. Add it once, and every purchase order, price quote and delivery check points back to it.
Create the supplier
Section titled “Create the supplier”- Open Warehouse → Suppliers.
- Click Add supplier.
- Enter the Name. Everything else is optional: Code, Tax ID, Default currency, Lead time (days), Payment terms (for example “Net 30”) and Notes.
- Click Create supplier.
Choosing a Default currency pre-fills the currency of a new purchase order for this supplier. You can change every field later on the supplier’s card.
Add people, addresses and paperwork
Section titled “Add people, addresses and paperwork”Open the supplier to get its card. The tabs are Overview, Contacts, Addresses, Documents, Products purchased and Transactions.
- Contacts: click Add contact for each person who quotes, confirms or ships. Give one the Primary contact switch and it is listed first. Enter phones with the country code, or pick the country first.
- Addresses: click Add address and choose the type: Legal, Shipping, Billing, Warehouse or Other. One address can be the Default address.
- Documents: click Upload documents to attach contracts, certificates and price lists. You can describe each file by hand or let Skipper read it. The Open file link works for five minutes, then you reload the page for a new one.
- Products purchased: what this supplier sells you, with its price and the date they quoted it. See Record what a supplier sells and at what price.
Decide which deliveries get a quality check
Section titled “Decide which deliveries get a quality check”On the supplier’s card, set Incoming checks:
- Follow the material: each material’s own setting decides.
- Check every delivery: every delivery from this supplier opens a check, whatever the material says.
- Check nothing: you trust this supplier’s own certificate, even for a material that normally gets checked.
See Check incoming deliveries.
Stop using a supplier
Section titled “Stop using a supplier”Select suppliers in the list and use the bar that appears.
- Deactivate keeps the supplier in the list with its history, balance and catalog, but stops offering it on new orders.
- Archive moves it to the Archive. An administrator can restore it there or delete it permanently.
