Track commissions owed to agents, consignees and marketplaces
A commission is what someone else keeps out of what you sell: an agent who brings you a buyer, a shop that sells your goods on consignment, a marketplace. Keelvy accrues it on every covered sale, so your margin shows what you really keep.
A commission is subtracted below gross profit. It is never taken off the price, so what the customer pays does not change.
Add an agreement
Section titled “Add an agreement”- Open Finance & team → Commissions and click Add agreement. You need the commissions permission.
- Give it a Name.
- Choose Who keeps the cut: a Consignee (one of your customers), an Agent (one of your suppliers) or a Marketplace (one of your sales channels). Then choose the partner or the marketplace. This cannot be changed later, because a different counterparty is a different agreement.
- Choose the Settlement:
- We are paid, we owe an agent: the customer pays you in full and you owe the agent a cut afterwards.
- They deduct, they pay the rest: the consignee keeps its cut and sends you the difference, so it reduces what you are owed.
- We are paid in full, we owe the consignor: you receive the whole amount and owe the consignor its share afterwards.
- Choose the Currency. One agreement settles in one currency. A sale in another currency is refused, not converted.
- Set From and Until. Leave Until empty to run open-ended. The last day counts.
- Under Rate, add a line for each charge with Add rate line. Each has a Basis: Percent of the line, Amount per unit or Flat, once per order. A 15% fee plus $3.83 per unit is one agreement with two lines.
- Optionally narrow it with Only on channel, Brand or Category. Leave them as any to cover every sale.
- Click Save.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”When an order is confirmed, every agreement that covers it accrues what is owed. The same sale never accrues twice for the same agreement. Commissions that a marketplace reports back are accrued too. If every agreement covering a sale is refused (usually one set to a currency the sale was not made in), Keelvy says so.
A return takes back the accrual on its returned share, on the day it came back.
In Profit & loss, the Commission line shows the accruals for the period, below gross profit. Commission in other currencies is named and not included. It is not available on the Cash basis. If you do not have the commissions permission, the line is withheld. See Read your profit and loss.
Change or archive an agreement
Section titled “Change or archive an agreement”Click Edit to change the terms. Accruals already made keep the terms they were made under. Archive stops the agreement covering new sales. Accruals already made stay on the profit and loss.
