Attach photos to products and channels
A product’s gallery has one master order, and every channel follows it unless you give that channel its own. Photos stay in the library: attaching one never copies it.
Add photos to a product
Section titled “Add photos to a product”- Open the product and go to Media.
- Click Add from library, tick photos, and click Add … images. Or click Upload to add new files.
- Drag photos into the order you want. Set the Primary image; it is the cover.
From the library you can also select photos and click Assign to product, then choose a Product, a Model or a Variant.
Show different photos on a channel
Section titled “Show different photos on a channel”- On the Media tab, pick a channel next to Master order.
- Tick or untick Include on each photo to decide what that channel shows.
- Drag to give the channel its own order. Reset to inherited goes back to the master order, and Copy order… applies one channel’s order to others.
- Under Alt text for this channel, write the description that channel should use. The counter shows the channel’s recommended length.
The channel’s slots are listed with a warning when a slot has no photo, no primary is set, or the position expects a role, such as a packshot, that none of the included photos has. See Delivery presets and per-channel crops.
Write alt text once, with tokens
Section titled “Write alt text once, with tokens”Alt text and captions can pull in the product’s own attributes. In an alt text field, type {{ and choose an attribute. A live preview shows the text for the product and flags a token with no value for the photo. One clear order decides which text wins for each channel and language. You can also click Write alt text with AI; read the proposal and accept it.
Families: the model owns the photos
Section titled “Families: the model owns the photos”Photos belong to the model, not to a single variant.
- Open the model and go to Media. Add photos to the shared gallery and set the model cover.
- In the Variant matrix, every photo is a row and every variant a column. Tick the variants each photo applies to.
- To give a variant its own cover, choose the variant and pick a photo from the model gallery. Use model cover clears it.
A tick projects the model’s photo onto that variant. It is never a copy: remove the photo from the model and it leaves every variant. A variant with no photo of its own shows the model cover, and the store never shows another variant’s photo for it. A variant can also have its own gallery: upload photos for just that variant and tick which model photos belong.
A mirror whose media policy follows the source shows the source’s photos read-only.
