Transfer stock between locations
A transfer moves materials or products from one location to another. Warehouse → Transfers lists every move as a consignment: what was in it, where it went, and what is still on the road.
Record a transfer
Section titled “Record a transfer”- Open Warehouse → Transfers and click Record transfer. (On Stock movements it sits under the arrow beside Record movement.)
- Choose the Source location and the Destination location.
- Add the items with Add materials or Add products and enter each Quantity. It must be a positive number.
- Under How it moves, choose:
- Arrive now: one step. The stock leaves the source and is available at the destination immediately. Right for a move within one room.
- Dispatch into transit: two steps. The stock leaves now and waits at the destination as in transit, yours but not available, until somebody receives it. Right for a move between sites.
- For a dispatch, you can add an Estimated arrival, a Tracking number and a Note. The estimated arrival is what makes “what should have arrived by now” answerable.
- Click Dispatch or Record transfer.
Every line is recorded together or not at all. If the destination would be overfilled, you get a warning but the transfer goes through.
Receive a dispatched transfer
Section titled “Receive a dispatched transfer”- Open Warehouse → Transfers and filter State to On the road.
- Open the consignment.
- Under Arrived, enter what actually came in for each line. Receiving less than was sent leaves the rest on the road, and the status reads part arrived.
- Click Receive.
Statuses are moved (arrived in one step), in transit, part arrived and arrived. In transit stock counts as yours but never as on hand or available to sell.
Print for the van
Section titled “Print for the van”On a consignment, Item list prints what is in it and Labels prints labels for its products. A transfer that carries only materials has no labels to print.
