Connect a shop that already has products

A shop that has been selling for years already holds products. Before Keelvy writes anything to it, you compare the two catalogs and decide who is in charge of what. Nothing is written until you finish.

This works for connectors that can read their shop back: Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and WooCommerce.

  1. Open Sales → Channels and open the shop’s channel.
  2. Under Compare with the shop, click Review the shop’s catalog.

Keelvy reads the shop and lines it up with the channel’s listings. Products are linked by SKU or barcode. A similar name is only ever a suggestion.

Group What to do
Linked Already matched by SKU or barcode. Nothing to do.
Looks alike Click Same product if it is. Nothing is linked by name alone.
Only in Keelvy Leave them out, or Create in the shop once. Keelvy will never change products the shop already holds.
Only in the shop Import into Keelvy, or Leave unpaired.

A shop product with more than three options, no variants, or two variants with the same SKU cannot be imported, and the row says why. A product with variants becomes a family: What the shop’s options become lets you pick the attribute each option maps to, or create a new one.

Under The shop’s photos, choose No photos, Only where we have none, or All, then remove duplicates. Photos come into the media library, filed in a folder named for the shop, and attach to the right products. A picture the library already has is linked, not copied. Nothing is written to the shop. The panel shows an estimate of the storage needed, and blocks the choice if it does not fit.

You can also have AI tag the stored photos with Let the AI tag the photos stored. It is off by default, and each stored photo would use credits.

Under The shop’s collections, bring a collection in as one of yours, link it to a collection you have, or skip it. Members are only ever added, never taken out.

Under Who owns what on this shop, choose once for the shop:

  • The shop owns content and price. Names, photos, descriptions and prices stay as they are in the shop. Keelvy reads them and never pushes them.
  • The shop owns content, Keelvy owns price. Content stays in the shop. Keelvy pushes its prices.
  • Keelvy owns everything. Keelvy pushes content and prices. Anything you edit in the shop is overwritten on the next push.

Stock is always Keelvy’s, at every level.

Switching to a lower level stops those pushes. Nothing is deleted, in Keelvy or in the shop.

Switching up first shows Review what would be overwritten: the number of listings whose name, price or photos differ, with the shop’s value beside Keelvy’s. Confirm with Overwrite {count} and switch to level {level}, which brings the count back so nothing changes unseen.

Connectors that cannot read their shop back offer only Keelvy owns everything.

Import into Keelvy only brings in what you ticked on the level the channel already has. Nothing is created in or written to the shop.

Products imported from a shop show From the shop. Refresh from shop re-reads them and updates their name, description and, on the first level, price. Nothing is written to the shop.
