Sets and kits

A set is a product assembled from other products, like a gift box of a candle, a matchbox and a wick trimmer. When you sell one, every item inside is deducted from stock at the quantity you set.

  1. Open the product and go to Composition.
  2. Switch the variant from Not a set to Set, and confirm Make it a set.

Composition is held per sellable variant, so a family can have a different set in each variant, for example one kit per scent.

A set is assembled, not manufactured from a specification. While a variant is a set, its Specification tab is unavailable and the specification linked to it is deactivated. Nothing is deleted: Stop being a set brings the tab and the same specification back, unless you made a newer specification meanwhile. The components stay on record either way.

  1. On the Composition tab, click Add item.
  2. Search by name or SKU. Filter by Product, Component or Bundle; a bundle can go inside another bundle.
  3. Set the Qty for each, and tick the ones you want.
  4. Click the Add … items button.

Drag the grip to reorder items, or click remove to take one out. An item cannot be added if it would make a loop, where the set ends up inside itself.

Each item has an Add without its packaging switch (Without packaging in the table).

  • Off, the usual case: the item goes in its own box, and that packaging is used up with it.
  • On: the item goes into the set unpackaged, so only the set’s own packaging is used.

Either way the item’s own stock is deducted.

  1. Open the variant whose composition is right and click Copy to variants.
  2. Tick the variants that should get the same components.
  3. Switch on Replace existing compositions only if variants that already have one should lose it.
  4. Click Copy.

For the whole family at once, the Composition tab shows one row per variant. Expand a row to edit it there.

A mirror cannot have its own composition. It uses the one of its source product.
